CAMEROON-TURKIYE COOPERATION

His Excellency Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations of Cameroon, had a meeting with Mr. Nail Olpak, President of the Türkiye Foreign Economic Relations Council (DEIK), on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum 2024. Also present at these exchanges, the President of the Türkiye-Cameroon Business Council (TCBC-DEIK). The two sides discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation between Cameroon and Turkiye, particularly in the areas of trade, investment and medical technologies.

On Wednesday April 3, 2024, H.E.M. Mbella Mbella, Minister of External Relations received in audience, Mr. Pierre-Guillaume BOUM BISSAI, Country Representative of the Commission of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), as part of the presentation of his Letters of Introduction.
After the protocol phase, the discussions mainly focused on the major projects of this sub-regional organization.
The Minister of External Relations hoped that the questions of free movement of people and goods, rationalization of Regional Economic Communities (CERs), currency as well as the sub-regional Free Trade Zone (FTA) would be integral parts of the specifications of the Country Representative in view of the multiple difficulties encountered and the challenges that CEMAC faces, especially since the challenges of integration are constantly growing.
Mr. BOUM BISSAI indicated that the CEMAC Country Representation already had a Protocol Antenna in Douala which works in close collaboration with the Protocol Antenna of MINREX in the same city, then thanked Cameroon for having accepted it as Country Representative, without forgetting all the efforts made for his contribution to the Community budget of which he is one of the largest contributors. Despite the shocks that CEMAC has faced at a given moment (humanitarian, health, etc.), it remains set on its ultimate goal: to carry out integrative projects, eleven (11) of which have an 80% completion rate. Also, the second related program concerning infrastructure and electrical interconnection has been operational since last year.

H.E MBELLA MBELLA, Minister of External Relations, participated in the third Antalya Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Turkey, from March 1 to 3, 2024.
